Thousand Islands Race

For the sixth year in a row, the Sailing Club of Rijeka and the Porto Montenegro Yacht Club will organize the Thousand Islands Race on a course that stretches from Rijeka to Tivat and meanders between more than 1000 Adriatic islands.

The race consists of two stages and the participants may choose to sail in either the first stage, the second stage or both, with their overall time being taken into account.
The first stage begins on 23 September in Rijeka, after which the fleet will pass the islands of Unija, Susak, Premuda, Dugi Otok, Kornat, Vis, Lastovo and Sveti Andrija on the right and finish the race in the Porto Montenegro marina in Tivat. Although the numerous racers will have to tackle the technical challenges of navigating among the myriad islands and channels of the Croatian coast and Kotor Bay, they will also be rewarded with the gorgeous scenery that they will encounter on the way. After presenting the awards to the winners of the first stage in Porto Montenegro on Wednesday, 26 September, the fleet will begin the second stage on 27 September by taking the same course back to Rijeka. Balthazar on Gradina

For the 4th year in a row, Professor Balthazar will be visiting Trsat Castle as part of Summer on GradIna.

"Balthazar on Gradina" is an event that communicates science in an interesting and innovative way and is inspired by the fact that the creators of the cartoon "Professor Balthazar" based Balthazar Town on the city of Rijeka. Lecturers, in cooperation with the University of Rijeka, will introduce a number of interesting science topics in an entertaining manner through interactive lectures, workshops and demonstrations. The cartoon "Professor Balthazar" will be shown at Mala Galerija, while the scientific peculiarities can be explored at every corner of Trsat Castle, where educational stands will be set up for everyone to enjoy, regardless of age.

Farewell to the Nights of Rijeka Squares and Beaches

The event that has made this hot summer pleasant and fun will end in the final days of September and usher us into the Rijeka autumn.

There is a plethora of other music and book evenings, art workshops and fishermen's celebrations taking place in September. One thing is certain, though. By entering its final stage, the Nights of Rijeka Squares and Beaches event will provide numerous other moments to remember the hot summer by and recharge for the upcoming autumn.

Ri-gastro – Fig Week

This event, which is a bona fide paradise for all two- and four-wheeled speed machine enthusiasts, will once again feature a bevy of automotive industry innovations, as well as a slew of exhibitors. The number of visitors and fans of automotive industry trends is increasing every year.

Windsurfing na Preluku
The bay between Rijeka and Opatija is called Preluk and is known by absolutely every windsurf lover in Croatia as well as in the neighbouring countries.

RThe reason is the northern wind (the Tramontana), that is, the wind that blows here almost every morning and offers unforgettable surfing or sailing experience, both summer and winter. Whether you sail or surf you have to do it early in the morning, because the wind stops an hour or two after sunrise. The morning scene of many surfers ''gliding" over the water is certainly not to be missed. Some of them get up at two o'clock in the morning to get to Preluk on time and enjoy the wind and the sea. more>
