Dubrovnik has a company focusing on walking tours of the Old Town: Dubrovnik Walks.

If you are talking about town of Dubrovnik then I wouldn't bother. The old city is really what it's about and you can walk on top of the huge walls going all around it. They have rent-a-cassette type guides and clearly marked locations all around the walls, it's a two hour stint. I'd recommend you read a few pages of a good guidebook beforehand and arm yourself with some "must see" sights. Almost every building in the old city has a story to tell, you couldn't hear them all. Outside of the old city, Dubrovnik is just a large bustling seaside town with no parking spaces. Whilst you are down there, go to Mlini, it's not far and is worth the trip.

Kalli, you are absolutely right!
You do not need a guide in the Old Town, but the local tourist office provides them, if required. I heard the charge was €20 for 3 hours.

Not quite. To guide people within the city walls of the Old Town, one must be licensed by the local guide association. And by being a member of the association, a guide must charge listed prices. That means any tour up to 2 hours is a roughly 500kn (about 70€) charge, minimum. Add another 200kn for going over 2 hours plus of course any entrance fees.

That doesn't mean some non-licensed guide won't offer to guide you around the old town, but know it is illegal, although this really doesn't affect the client.
