A summer festival on the island of Vis, it combines elements of history and ambient to interesting music and stage happenings.
Prominent personalities of the Croatian music scene (Classical, jazz, ethno music and more) appear for the musical portion of the program. The Ranko Marinković Amateur Theatre out of Vis is responsible for the theatrical portion of the program, while the Lavurat za poja association out of PodÅ¡pilje puts on a Nativity of the Virgin Mary folk and church festivity

The Summer On Vis 2006 coincides with the marking of the 140th anniversary of the Battle of Vis – a maritime engagement between Austrian and Italian naval forces that took place in 1866. The anniversary also evokes the memory of the 1811 battle off Vis between the English and combined French and Italian naval forces.
