Croatia to rebuild WWII synagogue
Croatia will pay for the rebuilding of a synagogue destroyed during World War II.
The Zagreb synagogue was destroyed by Croatia’s puppet Nazi government during the war and now is a parking lot for the Jewish community.
The city and state governments will finance the project, which will become the only synagogue in the capital.
About 2,500 Jews live in Croatia, mostly in Zagreb, where they worship in a community building.
