Private tourist accommodations in Istria is the fi rst service
after Istrian Malvasia, a well known Istrian wine, to be standardised and will get the Domus Bonus – Istria Quality Apartments certifi cate. This is a joint project of the Istria County Tourist Board, local tourist boards and the Istrian Development Agency in the frame of which the standards of quality accommodations for tourists will be determined. Facilities meeting the conditions will receive a certifi cate and be included in joint promotional activities through the tourist boards. The guarantee of quality accommodations will for the moment be available only to apartments, while standardisation of vacation houses will also be carried out in time. Private accommodations in Istria make up a fourth of the overall tourist accommodation capacities. There are some 5 and a half thousand people offering private accommodations, about 15 thousand apartments and houses for rent with a total of about 50 thousands available beds. The majority of these beds, about 33 thousand are available in apartments of which most fall into the three star category. This standardisation project aims therefore, to provide incentive to private renters to improve their offer to make the entire sector more competitive and further raise the level of occupancy. The plan for this year is to grant the Domus Bonus brand to 500 private accommodation facilities and to increase the number with every coming year. taken from journalist web newsletter 05/06 http://press.croatia.hr/datoteke/2506.pdf |
